GALACTIC project to be presented at the International Conference on Space Optics (ICSO)

The ICSO (30 March to 2 April 2021) is a bi-annual forum for technology and mission experts. Fostering the exchange about optical technologies for space missions, the virtual event is the perfect platform for presenting the GALACTIC project.

In the poster session “09 – Lasers” (Thursday, 1 April from 10:30 to 17:30 CET), Peter Weßels of LZH will be showing why Alexandrite is a promising laser material for applications in spaceborne Earth observation. The Horizon 2020 project GALACTIC aims at realizing space-qualified high-quality coated Alexandrite crystals relying on a purely European-based supply chain. The project consortium will push the development of Alexandrite crystals and coatings within the EU from the current Technology Readiness Level (TRL 4) up to TRL 6.

Join the poster session to learn more about Alexandrite and our strategies to enable non-dependence of Europe in coated Alexandrite laser crystal technology.
