ICSO 2022: GALACTIC compares developed crystals to state-of-the-art non-European ones

Using a cavity-dumped Q-switched laser system, the GALACTIC team has compared their crystals with commercially available ones from major non-EU suppliers. GALACTIC’s crystals showed high reproducibility, and laser performance as well as optical quality comparable to the results achieved with the non-EU crystals. Therefore, the crystals have reached competitiveness on the global market. At the International Conference on Space Optics (ICSO) Stefanie Unland, Laser Zentrum Hannover e.V., presents the laser performance results within the scope of the comparative study.

Location: Dubrovnik/Croatia, Sun Gardens Dubrovnik Resort, Windroses, Room 2

Time: 4 October 2022, 2 p.m. (CET)

The Horizon 2020 project GALACTIC was initiated to develop reproducible, fully European-supplier-based functionally coated Alexandrite crystals that can be used in space. Therefore the team consisting of Altechna (LT), Laser Zentrum Hannover e.V. (DE) and Optomaterials S.r.l. (IT) works together to verify TRL 6 of the crystals.
